BIOGRAPHY OF LATE HON. GIDEON AREMU
Born on the 10th of January, 1975, to the Aremu family of Isale-Bonni, Igboho, Oorelope Local Government of Oyo State. He had his primary and secondary education in his hometown of Igboho. He had a stint with the Nigerian Army where he participated actively in warfront peace-keeping operations in Serrea-Leone, Ivory-Coast and Liberia. He served Nigeria meritoriously and Gideon was not consumed by the red-hot hit of the bullet. Obeying the call of his passion and in pursuit of education, he bowed out of the military and returned to school.
He enrolled into the University of Ilorin, where he obtained his first and second degrees in Statistics, all in flying colors. Still unsatisfied and hungry for knowledge and excellence, he stepped further and commenced his doctoral degree at the same institution and completed the study without delay. The University council has confirmed him a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Statistic. A committee has been put in place for the convocation ceremony slated for a day soon to be announced. Unfortunately, the assailants chose otherwise.
We are not in any way daunted by the callousness of your assailants. We take solace and consolation in the fact that you lived a beautiful life of service, dedication and impact. Let it be mentioned to evil doers and their paymasters that we shall take to a land of fulfillment, all your unfulfilled vision, mission, dreams, legacies and aspirations. All you believed in, that you stood for and that you paid the supreme price for, shall not be abandoned unaccomplished.
While we are appealing to our people to accept this as the will of God Almighty and not take laws into our hands, our singular but passionate appeal to His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and all concerned authorities, is to do more than giving assurances but quickly unravel this misery by apprehending the perpetrators of this dastardly act of horror and bring them to justice.
At this very difficult moment, we sympathize and stand firmly with his lovely wife, his aged mother, his young children, his entire family, his constituents and the entire people of Oyo State. We are confident that there exists a fellowship outside of this sinful world where we shall all dwell without end.
Those who say we are in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look ~ Ronald Reagan.
Good night my brother.
Good night my comrade.
